Woman storms tax policy office over high taxes

A video has gone viral of a Ugandan woman who invaded a tax policy office in Uganda where she protested against oppressive tax measures in east African countries.

The woman who goes by the name Nalongo Nana, is said to be a businesswoman in Kampala.

Her protest came after President Museveni’s aid Fred Bamwine made a comment  saying that leaders are supposed to be taken care of by the citizens and not the other way round.

According to Nana, “I watched this on TV Bamwine, what will Ugandans do? What will we do? Who is checking these things? We are tired… so who will take care of us? Who is taking care of Uganda?” she shouted as a stunned audience watch quietly.

She further added saying “I pay taxes, only to watch these kinds of meetings who have you invited to this meetings to know what we are really going through… we are an angry lot you people… take care of us like you should… you will not sit here in these fancy places… stop it!,”

However the State Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, David Bahati apologised for the remarks made by Bamwine terming it as insensitive and inappropriate.
