Arsenal is sweating over the fitness of Lucas Torreira after the midfielder was withdrawn at halftime during Uruguay’s 4-1 win over Mexico.

The Gunners’ summer signing was withdrawn at the break with his place being taken by Christian Stuani and was later pictured with an ice pack covering his left leg. Torreira has been gently eased into the first team fold by new Arsenal manager Unai Emery.

Torreira is yet to start in the Premier League for Arsenal and the club’s supporters hoping for that to change at St James’ Park. The Arsenal boss will now be hoping that Torreira will be fit to face Newcastle United Saturday, September 15.

Torreira appeared to have been injured on international duty during a friendly match between Uruguay and Mexico.
