Human Rights activist Boniface Mwangi has exposed giant transport company modern Coast for lack of professionalism.
According to Mwangi, he used the companies courier service to send some books from Nairobi to Kampala on Tuesday but the books have not arrived more than three days later.
“My experience with @Modern_Coast. On Tuesday a friend sent my books to Kampala via @Modern_Coast. Today is Friday and l discovered that my books never arrived in Kampala and @Modern_Coast never called the sender or the receiver to let them know there was a problem…” Mwangi posted on his Twitter handle.
I DM @Modern_Coast and tell them that my books are missing. I provide the tracking number and they get back to me that the books are being held at the border by Uganda customs because no duty was paid. They never mentioned we have to clear customs ourselves or called to inform us pic.twitter.com/Qb9HQTrhrW

So @Modern_Coast gives me an agent’s number. I borrow a phone and call him. He isn’t even aware of my issue. I brief him and after awhile he calls back that l need to pay taxes. Takes me awhile to get a Ugandan citizen who will accept Kenya shillings and send via mobile money pic.twitter.com/cgdWByhqjB

I send the cash. Alert @Modern_Coast but they don’t respond for awhile, after an hour they reply and say they were offline cause they didn’t have power. I ask about my books, am told “follow up with that agent”. Courier receipt is by them but I should follow up with a stranger. pic.twitter.com/qYrQQtp88z

“So here l am,in Kampala, l have an event in 2hrs time and my books are with @Modern_Coast. Zero updates when l will get them. I paid them but they keep referring me to a third party. Agent not picking.Had a similar experience with @Modern_Coast? Share we learn who not to give biz”
Modern coast have apologized to Boniface Mwangi, saying his books have already been cleared.
Sincere apologies for the delay, please note, the parcel has already been cleared at the boarder and dispatched. An sms alert will be sent to the recipient immediately the parcel is at Kampala office for pick up. Thank you.
