Revealed: Why West Ham did’nt sign Toure

West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that he had a chat with Yaya Toure on why he couldn’t sign him after being linked with him in the concluded transfer window.

After seeing off his contract at Manchester City Yaya Toure became a free agent at the back end of last season and was linked with a host of clubs.

Top of the list was West Ham after they appointed former Manchester City coach Manuel Pellegrini who had a striking relationship with the Ivorian midfielder.

Pellegrini explained why he didn’t go after his former player, Toure and responded to his agent’s comments after he said Toure won’t be joining the bottom-placed club.

“Unfortunate. The words of the agent of Yaya, because I spoke with him I know how I perceive him as a person, as a player, but at this moment we were doing our squad list, that position was covered. We needed other players so I explained to Yaya clearly why he could not come here but I hope he can find a big club.”

The former Real Madrid boss kept it cool when asked if Yaya requested to come to play for him, “I was talking with lots of players. Yaya wanted to stay in England, he also received offers from away in China but he wanted to stay here and try to be here. Unfortunately, as I said, that position here was covered.”

West Ham United next host Premier League new boys Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday 1st September with the kick off time slated for 5 PM.
