Lazar Markovic, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Anderlecht, is expected to leave Liverpool before Friday’s deadline.

The transfer window remains open across much of Europe, despite the Premier League choosing to close its own window three weeks ago. Markovic is surplus to requirements at Liverpool and is now into the final 12 months of his contract at Anfield.

The winger has interest from Standard Liege, which could mean a return to Belgium for the former Benfica man.

And, according to Belgian daily Het Belang Van Limburg, Markovic is expected to leave Liverpool before the window slams shut on Friday night.

The Serbian is firmly out of the picture under Jurgen Klopp at Anfield and is looking to relaunch his career.

Markovic took time to reach match fitness at Anderlecht due to a lack of game time at Liverpool.

Liverpool paid Benfica a fee of £20m to sign Markovic in 2014.

Olympiakos were in talks with Liverpool flop Lazar Markovic, according to reports. The Serbian winger looks set to leave Anfield this summer after making just 34 appearances since 2014.

The 24-year-old was  in talks with Olympiakos and Belgian side Standard Liege.

Markovic is currently with the first-team for the pre-season tour of the United States. But it is highly unlikely that the Serbian star is a part ofJurgen Klopp’s plans for next season.

The winger made an impressive start in Merseyside after he was snapped up by Brendan Rodgers for £20m in July 2014.

The winger has failed to impress Jurgen Klopp. But following the arrival of Klopp, the Serbian has been shipped out on loan to four different clubs in three seasons.

After a spell with Fenerbahce, he went on loan to Sporting Lisbon, Hull City and Anderlecht.

Markovic has not played a competitive match for the Reds since he was used as a substitute against Queens Park Rangers in 2015.

But the winger has caught the eye of two clubs after he scored during Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Blackburn Rovers last week.
