Wazito Stun Ingwe in Machakos

Wazito FC kept their survival hopes alive with a hard fought 2-1 win over AFC Leopards in an entertaining match played at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Leopards were looking to exorcise their demons coming into the match having gifted their bitter rivals Gor Mahia the league on Saturday with a 2-0 loss.

The loss allowed Gor to wrap up the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) title in a match that witnessed ugly scenes of fan chaos with midfielder Whyvonne Isuza also missing a crucial penalty.

Bandari also seized that chance to leapfrog Leopards into second on the KPL. And things were looking pretty well when Nigerian import Alex Orotomal opened the scoring with a well curved goal after a cut back Edward Seda.

But Wazito could hear none of it as they responded in style, knowing that only a win would keep their slim hopes of survival. Derrick Onyango leveled the scores with a ferocious strike early in the second half.

David Oswe ensured the team bagged all the three points with a beautiful volley in injury time.

Wazito are now just one point behind 16th placed Chemelil Sugar but have played one more game than the Sugar millers.

Two teams will be relegated from the KPL, with the 16th placed team facing the third placed team in the National Super League for a chance to play Premier League football next season.
