Harambee Stars’ upcoming opponents Ghana are set to hold a training camp in Addis Ababa ahead of their Group “F” clash with Kenya on September 8 at Kasarani Stadium.
The Black Stars led by Coach Kwessi Appiah are expected in Addis on September 3 before departing for Nairobi three days later.
The coach surprisingly omitted the Ayew brothers from his squad.
Meanwhile, Kenyans will have a chance to meet legendary Dutch footballers Clarence Seedorf and Patrick Kluivert next week when they lead the Cameroon national team to Nairobi next weekend.
Five-time African champions Cameroon are set to pitch a four-day camp in Kenya from September 2 ahead of their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) second round qualifier against Comoros scheduled for September 8 in Moroni.
The “Indomitable Lions” top Group ‘B’ with three points, similar to Malawi who saw off Comoros by a solitary goal in the first round first leg June last year.
Cameroon, whose Belgian coach Hugo Broos departed after the end of his contract in February this year, edged out Morocco 1-0 in the first round first leg staged in Yaounde last year.
The West African nation on August 4 appointed former Dutch international Clarence Seedorf as the head coach to be assisted by compatriot Patrick Kluivert.
The two are set to lead a squad of 23 players during the Kenya camp before setting off via a two hour flight to Moroni on September 6.
“They chose Kenya because of its proximity to Comoros and we are preparing to host them amicably,” a source from the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) who requested anonymity told Nation Sport on Friday.
FC Porto’s Vincent Aboubakar is among the players named in the squad while the 2017 Afcon best player Christian Bassogog is surprisingly left out.
Bassogog, who plies his trade with Chinese side Henan Jianye, was reportedly dropped by Seedorf alongside Benjamin Moukandjo who also turns out for Chinese outfit Beijing Renhe.
