“Corruption in One House?” William Ruto Host Waiguru in Karen

Kerinyaga Governor, Anne Waiguru who is the second most corrupt leader in Kenya, according to a recent study by IPSOS Synovate has paid a courtesy visit to Deputy President William Ruto, the most corrupt Kenyan in his Karen office.

IPSOS Synovate recently ranked the two leaders as the most corrupt leaders in Kenya who account for more than 60% of the graft cases in Kenya.

The report indicates that 33 per cent of Kenyans rank the deputy president as the most corrupt followed by Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru at 31 per cent. The research was conducted in 45 counties with a representation of about 2,000 households.

The two leaders have however vehemently denied the survey saying it had been sponsored by their political rivals interested in swaying public perceptions in the run-up to the 2022 elections.

“The opinion was paid for by the political detractors of the DP who think this will help their course to the presidency. The findings are part of the political scheme by the usual failures because how do you measure perception?” Mr Ruto’s spokesman and Director of Communications at his office David Mugonyi said.

He added: “The so-called survey used data that is too politically correlated to be meaningful. At a time when people are so desperate that they want to amend the Constitution to bar the DP from running for the presidency, it should not shock anyone that a survey like this would be concocted.”

Waiguru termed the research results as the work of her detractors out to malign her name by placing her as the second most corrupt senior ranking government official. “My political detractors are working in cohort with Synovate to malign my name under the guise of a survey which is not only imaginary but cooked up to suit the interests of those behind it,” she said.

Waiguru led a delegation of MCAs from Kerinyaga to Ruto’s office in a meeting whose Agenda has not been disclosed though it is suspected a lot of discussion will revolve around the damning report.

Talks of 2022 succession politics are also expected to be a major agenda with some quarters in Mt. Kenya fronting the former devolution Minister as Ruto’s running mate.

It was recently revealed that Ruto wants to use MCAs as his point men in the grassroots as he tries to solidify his base. The Deputy President has held a lot of meetings with County Leaders in recent times as he views them as more reachable than MPs who can be swayed by rivals.
