There have been many red cards in the World Cup. Most of them seem are easily forgettable. However There are some exceptions red cards that football fans will never forget.

I. Maradona

In 1982, Maradona participated in the World Cup for the first time, when he was only 21 years old. In the life and death battle with Brazil, Brazil advanced a goal, leading 1-0. Maradona led Argentina to counterattack, but Brazil once and for all fiercely forced the blockade of Maradona. Once Maradona broke into the penalty area, the Brazilian player had a foul on the tackle. It should be a penalty in Argentina. As a result, the referee only sentenced a corner.

Maradona’s grievances grew deeper and deeper, while Brazil scored two more goals, leading 3-0.

In the end, Maradona’s fury broke out. In the 75th minute, Maradona kicked a Brazilian player in the  stomach with a kick and was directly sent off by the referee.

This is the only red card in Maradona’s career. After the red card, the Argentine national team thought Maradona was young and violent, not enough to take on the big task and excluded him for a long time from the team. He however made a return in the 1986 tournament where he led Argentina to glory.

Second, Beckham

In 1998, Beckham participated in the World Cup for the first time.But no one thought that Beckham would end England’s journey  in that game with a red card.

Similar to Maradona, Beckham was constantly invaded by Argentina’s iron waist Simoni, and the referees turned a blind eye.

Later, in a fight, Beckham was knocked down by the Argentine team and lay on the ground and kicked Simeone as  revenge. It is said that Xiaobei’s luck is not good. Before being invaded by the referee, the revenge was just seen by the referee, and the referee was in front of him. Danish referee Nelson decisively took out a red card, Beckham went straight to the game and England lost the game.

This red card made this classic game and made Simone famous in the world. After the game, fans said that David Beckham would act, and David Beckham said that Simeone’s  acting skills were much more powerful than him.

As Zidane and Materazzi were jogging up the pitch close to each other, they briefly exchanged words after Materazzi was seen tugging at Zidane’s jersey before Zidane began to walk away from him. Moments later, Zidane suddenly stopped, turned around and head-butted Materazzi’s chest, knocking him to the ground. Although play was halted, referee Horacio Elizondo did not appear to have seen the confrontation. According to match officials’ reports, fourth official Luis Medina Cantalejo informed Elizondo of the incident through his headset. After consulting his assistants, Elizondo issued Zidane a red card in the 110th minute. It marked the 14th overall expulsion of Zidane’s career, and joined him with Cameroon’s Rigobert Song as the only players ever to be sent off during two separate World Cup tournaments. He also became the fourth player red-carded in a World Cup final, in addition to being the first sent off in extra time

This red card is famous because it has caused a big discussion among fans around the world because of its nature.

The quarter-finals of the 2010 World Cup, Uruguay vs Ghana. The two teams tied and into extra time The Ghanaians have the strength to fight against the sky blue Uruguayans, and in the last few minutes of overtime, they are still bombarding Uruguay. In the last few tens of seconds, Ghana got a chance to open the game in the penalty area. Uruguay goalkeeper Muslera has completely lost the defense of the goal. There is only one Suarez on the Uruguayan goal line.

Suarez is standing on the goal line and in the most natural reactions kicks the ball out with his hand after realizing he would not do it with his head.

The referee spots it and sends Suarez while also awarding ghana a penalty. Asamoah Gyan steps up but misses and the geam heads into penalties, Uruguay win on penalties and are in the Semi Finals of the World Cup. Suarez is a national Hero.
