Kenyans have taken to social media to mock Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waitituover his remarks that the ongoing demolitions on houses built on riparian land should stop, and instead the owners incur the cost of redirecting the rivers.
“… mimi hapana support ubomoaji. Mambo iangaliwe, kama kuna nyumba yako inakaribiana na mto wewe uambiwe ni gharama yako kuhakikisha hiyo mto imesonga kidogo. Lakini kubomoa nyumba is not a solution. Honestly speaking. It is such a big loss,” the seemingly angry governor said in a video that has now gone viral.
The governor said NEMA and Nairobi county government should look for alternative ways instead of bringing down property worth billions.
