Harry Kane’s brace help England beat Tunisia

England captain Harry Kane was magnificent on his World Cup debut as he bagged a brace to sink Tunisia and rescue the Three Lions late to secure important three points. is brilliant form from the season into Russia. He opened the scoring inside 11 minutes, slotting in on a rebound after John Stones’ header was blocked by the Panama goalkeeper. With a generous tap in, Kane showed quick awareness to put his side ahead.

The Tunisian side were nowhere matching to England’s game and could equalise only after they were awarded a penalty in their favour, for a foul in which Kyle Walker pulled down Fakhreddine Ben Youssef. The penalty shot was taken by Sassi who converted it into a goal. The equaliser boosted Tunisia as they upped the ante and maintained the composure at the back to not concede until the 89th minute.

In the second half, the Tunisian defence crumbled in the wake of the persistent onslaught by England’s attack and the only saving grace was their Goalkeeper who denied the English some definite goals. But it was Kane, who once again came to England’s rescue when he slotted in a powerful header to seal the deal for the Three Lions on a pass from Harry Maguire.

The game also saw its fair share of controversial moments, where the referee denied the three lions a penalty when Meriah wrestled with Kane that was overlooked by the referee.  England were easily the better side throughout the ninety minutes with Tunisia playing as a more defensive unit.

England have won their opening game at a major tournament since 2006, courtesy to a Harry Kane masterclass. The Three Lions will next be up against Panama in their second encounter before they lock horns with favourites Belgium, who they have now levelled on the Group table with three points.
