Ksh 130 hotel bill sends duo to jail

Senior Magistrate Edgar Kagoni, has sentenced two people for one month in jail for failing to pay Kshs 130 bill after eating meat stew at a hotel in Mombasa.

Peter John and Martin Mwangi  appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Edgar Kagoni, who in his sentence termed as the suspects behavior offense and an act of deterrent.

According to the magistrate it was disrespectful for the suspects to eat food in someone’s restaurant and walk away without paying.

In his defence,  one of the suspects Mr Mwangi apologized to the court for his bad behaviour claiming he was drunk when the whole ordeal happened.

They were both jailed for one month failure to pay a fine of Ksh 5,000
